Don’t We All Want to be a Ski Bum?

The Ski Bum & National Ski Patroller

How can I ski all of the time?  I grew up asking myself this question. My ski days started in Michigan where the cold and wind seem to amplify each other.  I had heard of a place called Aspen and I dreamed of one day skiing there.

My dream came true after graduating college.  While driving from Bloomington, IN, enroute to my father’s home in Los Angeles, a little voice came in my ear;  “There is no place like Aspen”.  So my “72” Super Beetle found its way to the slopes of Aspen where the dream continued!  I got a job at the Ullrhof Restaurant at the base of the Big Burn in Snowmass to get that free three Mountain pass. My morning commute consisted of riding up 4 lifts in the freezing cold and then making first tracks to the Ullrhof!

After Aspen I took time off  to raise a family and started my kids on skis when they were 4 and 5 years old.  So I asked the Universe “How can my family ski all the time”?  So I tried out with the Snowshoe Ski Patrol and got accepted!  Next, we needed a place to stay!

So that is how Ski Bum Condos came about.  It started with a dream!  The homes I have bought vary in size and furnishings but they all have one thing in common.  All are walking distance to everything.  I know what it is like to have small kids and have to lug equipment, food and supplies to the slopes.  We stayed in places where it was exhausting just getting to the slopes.  Our homes are such that you can ski in, grab a bite and warm up and get back out with ease.

If a picture is worth 1000 words, then this picture tells my story.  I am a Ski Bum in training!  The best way to enjoy the skiing and mountains is to be a part of them.

The Mountains are calling!  Listen to them.  Come be a part of the Mountains and enjoy Natures playground!
